Steamed Sesame Chicken

Ingredients
  • 1 whole (1.5 pound) chicken
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white ground pepper
  • 1 tablespoon tamari
  • 1 tablespoon roasted sesame oil
  • 8 slices ginger
Preparation
  1. Cut the chicken by separating the legs and wings. Cut the chicken breast keeping the bones in. keep the rest of the bones for making chicken broth another time.
  2. Place the chicken in a heatproof big bowl. Add all the ingredients to marinate the chicken. Tuck the ginger around the chicken.
  3. Using a wok (or a steamer), steam the chicken above the water for about 30 minutes or until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the breast shows 160F. Remove the chicken from the heat and ready to serve.
